New Jordan Moore Design dot com

I left the old one to die because I tend to have a habit of going off my designs quicker than the milk at the front of the shelf. Hopefully the new redesign stops this. Here is what I set out to achieve:
  • Sell sell sell - big intro, fuck the about me stuff it is demoted to 12px
  • My work - voila, its there on the right, did you miss it? Didn't think so!
  • Hire me button, below the portfolio stuff, follows the eye.
Kept it simple but elegant, no need for additional pages, CMS or blog, I'm doing that here now :)

He is my Stimpy

If I had penny for every time I say "Denzel you eeeediet!" I would be able to buy another cat that isn't broken.

Cookies and Cream

Even the packaging looks tasty.

Will trade for food.

Ever since I got married and bought a house, my wallet - which was formerly a colourful place for coins and maybe even the odd note - has got significantly emptier. The colour spectrum of coins has vanished, and if there is an occurrence of colour it is generally copper in appearance.

Shiny new toys are harder to come by now that I'm trying to be a grown up, until I came across the swap shop on Gumtree. The move to the new house has left many items of Jordan-past out of use and made them possible currency for new things.

My old baby (VOX 50w Valvetronix amp) which I used to gig with was first in the firing line, I am looking for a shiny Canon or Nikon camera (a bit ambitious I know, but this is a fine amp - and pretty hard to come by) and I am loving this new way of acquiring my toys. It is a lot of fun, next in line is my Pignose portable amp that can run on batteries. I bought it with the intention of guerilla gigs with my previous band, silly silly Jordan-past.

With a lot of willing swappers it seems most things are reasonably achievable, I haven't had this much of an adrenaline rush since trading Pogs in primary school.

De La Soul in FRANK151 Ch37

Carrying on from last night's illustration research, I found this great example of how FRANK151 combines illustration and content.

I need to start drawing again

I can't remember the last time I intentionally picked up a pencil and paper and created something that wasn't web-related. My mid-year resolution is to illustrate. An end result like this one I spotted on image spark would be nice.

The Human Body

I have been playing with colour, type and print for my new portfolio re-design (this must be like, version 6 or something) this is a good example of the effect I'm trying to achieve thanks to skyringbreath on DeviantArt.

Phileas Fogg Crisps

I love the new 2009 rebrand of Phileas Fogg Crisps, each location on the pack represents the flavour within.

Derren Brown? Manchester United?

This caught my eye earlier, Derren Brown has a weird ad running on Channel 4 with reversed messages, among them a blatant plug for Manchester United, or more like a link to the strange http://retsehcnamdetinu.com/ What is he doing or what has he done to my favourite foosball team?

And now forwards...

Kenneth Capello - Acid Drop

I hold my hands up, I have never heard of Kenneth Capello until I came across his work today. He is a fashion photographer that came from honest punk roots as shown in his book Acid Drop. It catalogs his photos he took as a teenager, and they still look incredible.

This is tits.

Some nice typography work by Seb Lester. Sorry if that sounded like the promise of porn, in a sad way, this is porn to me.

Felix von der Weppen's Beautiful Typography

Typography by Felix von der Weppen that is so well thought out it is art in itself. Check it out here.

Tasty Packaging by Graze.com

If I liked my greens, I would be all over this pretty box by graze.com who do a good job of look and feel as well as branding for their service. Simple idea, pick your food tray online, select regular delivery dates and eat. To put it another way, if Burger King did the same I would be dead.

At the Drive-In - Relationship of Command

I have rediscovered this fantastic album, I bought it after their insane performance of One Armed Scissor on Jools Holland (below). It contains completely impersonal lyrics, "you", "me" and "I" are hardly ever used, but at the same time Cedric sings the irrelevant lyrics with such heart and soul you can't help but relate.

Standout tracks - Enfilade, One Armed Scissor, Pattern Against User.
